The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have released a scathing statement in response to excerpts from a new royal book, containing explosive allegations about the couple, being published online.<\/p>\n

The upcoming book, Betrayal: Power, Deceit and the Fight for the Future of the\u00a0Royal Family, penned by\u00a0Tom Bower, delves into the ongoing tension between the Sussexes and the Windsor household, with snippets appearing in The Times Magazine.<\/p>\n

The publication also highlights purported internal worries, including those voiced by former Invictus Foundation chief Dominic Reid, that sport and competitors were being eclipsed and that the Games had morphed into \u201cthe Harry and Meghan show\u201d. It points to poor event attendance and alleges crowd \u201cpadding\u201d for the benefit of cameras, as well as suggesting that competitors and their families were being overshadowed by meticulously orchestrated photo ops.<\/p>\n

Reacting to The Times\u2019 serialisation of Bower\u2019s latest work, a representative for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex retorted: \u201cMr Bower\u2019s commentary has long crossed the line from criticism into fixation. This is someone who has publicly stated, \u2018the monarchy in fact depends on actually obliterating the Sussexes from our state of life,\u2019 language that speaks for itself.<\/p>\n

In his latest book, Mr Bower claims that Meghan delivered a sharp 11-word retort to\u00a0Prince William\u00a0during a peace-making encounter between the two couples following the Sussexes\u2019 honeymoon in 2018. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the Prince and\u00a0Princess of Wales\u00a0were previously tight-knit and labelled the \u201cFab Four\u201d shortly after Meghan joined the Royal Family, yet relations rapidly deteriorated.<\/p>\n

Mr Bower explores the peace-making encounter between the two couples during which Meghan purportedly \u201csnapped\u201d at William, declaring: \u201cIf you don\u2019t mind, get your finger out of my face.\u201d He documented that the reconciliation meeting between the brothers and their spouses in 2018 had \u201cspun out of control.\u201d<\/p>\n

The publication also explores Queen Camilla\u2019s antipathy towards Meghan. It suggests that the Queen purportedly confided in a friend that the Duchess had manipulated Harry. Additionally in the book, Mr Bower makes some bombshell assertions about how Meghan supposedly sought to leverage\u00a0Prince Harry\u2019s\u00a0Invictus Games platform as a \u201cglobal stage for genuine admiration and cheering fans\u201d.<\/p>\n

To her good fortune, Harry agreed that she could star at the Invictus Games, which he was about to open in Canada. Just before flying up to Vancouver in a private jet, she alerted her\u00a0Instagram\u00a0followers.\u201d<\/p>\n

He claimed how Harry and Meghan \u201cinsisted\u201d on being addressed as \u201cMa\u2019am and Sir\u201d and alleged organisers found the pair to be \u201cpushy.<\/p>\n

He claimed Nick Booth, the chief executive of the Games, had been \u201cparachuted into the post\u201d after the dismissal of two Canadian executives who \u201cresented\u201d Harry and Meghan.<\/p>\n

He alleged the departed executives found Meghan to be \u201ca distraction from the injured veterans,\u201d with one of them saying: \u201cShe\u2019s bling, not rehabilitation.
