Princess Eugenie\u00a0is pregnant!<\/p>\n

The princess and her husband,\u00a0Jack Brooksbank, announced that they are expecting their third child together on Monday, May 4. A statement from Buckingham Palace read, \u201cHer Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their third child together, due this summer.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAugust (aged 5) and Ernest (aged 2) are also very excited to have another sibling join the family,\u201d the statement continued. \u201cHis Majesty The King has been informed and is delighted with the news.\u201d<\/p>\n

The news was also shared on Eugenie\u2019s Instagram page alongside a\u00a0photo\u00a0of her sons holding an ultrasound image. \u201cBaby Brooksbank due 2026!\u00a0\u2665\ufe0f\u2665\ufe0f\u2665\ufe0f\u2665\ufe0f\u2665\ufe0f\"\ud83d\udc76\ud83c\udffb\"\u2665\ufe0f\u2665\ufe0f\u2665\ufe0f\u2665\ufe0f\u2665\ufe0f,\u201d the post was captioned.<\/p>\n

Princess Eugenie, the younger daughter of the former\u00a0Prince Andrew\u00a0and\u00a0Sarah Ferguson,\u00a0got engaged\u00a0to Jack after seven years of dating in January 2018. They married that October in a\u00a0royal wedding\u00a0at St. George\u2019s Chapel at Windsor Castle in a celebration attended by\u00a0Queen Elizabeth,\u00a0Prince Philip\u00a0and many members of the royal family.<\/p>\n

The couple became parents when their son\u00a0August Philip Hawke\u00a0was born in February 2021. The couple\u2019s family expanded again when their second son\u00a0Ernest George Ronnie\u00a0was born in May 2023, just a few weeks after\u00a0King Charles\u2019 coronation.<\/p>\n

Just the day before their announcement, Jack celebrated his 40th birthday, with his wife sharing some rare family photos on Instagram to mark the occasion.<\/p>\n

Their latest happy news, however, comes in the midst of a tumultuous time for Eugenie\u2019s family. In October 2025,\u00a0King Charles\u00a0stripped Andrew and Ferguson of their royal honors and longtime residence as the gradual release of the Epstein files revealed the\u00a0depth of their alleged ties\u00a0with the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing in connection with Epstein, and Ferguson has not been accused of any.<\/p>\n

Then, in February, Andrew was arrested on\u00a0suspicion of misconduct in public office, related to\u00a0a claim that he shared confidential information\u00a0with Epstei\u200b\u200bn during his time as a trade envoy for the U.K. Following the arrest, a\u00a0source told PEOPLE\u00a0that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were trying to \u201cstay away\u201d from the controversy surrounding their parents. \u201cThey have young children, and this is their grandfather \u2014 their focus is on protecting their own children from this,\u201d the insider said.<\/p>\n

At the same time, another source, a family friend,\u00a0told PEOPLE in a March 2026 cover story\u00a0that Beatrice and Eugenie \u201cwant to hold on to their royal status,\u201d amid the turmoil. \u201cIt\u2019s their identity,\u201d the source added.<\/p>\n

In 2022, Jack took on a new job with property tycoon Mike Meldman, who is a business partner of\u00a0George Clooney. The role led him and Eugenie to decide that they would\u00a0divide their time\u00a0between the U.K. and Portugal for his new position, basing their family in both places.<\/p>\n

Following the loss of their titles and longtime home at Royal Lodge, Eugenie\u2019s parents have also relocated. Andrew is now living on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, while a source close to Ferguson\u00a0told PEOPLE\u00a0that she planned to find her own home and was \u201cgoing to move forward independently.\u201d Most recently, she was tracked down to a mountain hideaway in the Austrian Alps.<\/p>\n

After those photos were published, Ferguson\u2019s cousin-by-marriage Martin Barrantes spoke to the\u00a0Daily Mail<\/em>\u00a0about Ferguson\u2019s decision to stay out of the spotlight.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have spoken to her [and] can tell you that she just wants to protect her children and her grandchildren,\u201d Barrantes said. \u201cShe loves her children more than anything and will do anything for them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though they were both born with royal titles, and were permitted to keep them after Andrew lost his, Princess Eugenie and her sister\u00a0Princess Beatrice\u00a0are not full-time working royals like their cousin\u00a0Prince William. Instead, they make their living with\u00a0day jobs. Princess Eugenie studied art history and English literature at Newcastle University and has worked as a director at the London art gallery Hauser & Wirth since 2015.<\/p>\n

She also champions several charitable causes, including Scoliosis Association UK, Teenage Cancer Trust and Elephant Family, plus runs The Anti-Slavery Collective.<\/p>\n

A climate advocate like her uncle King Charles, Eugenie previously said she was raising her children to be\u00a0activists\u00a0for a brighter world around them.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy son\u2019s going to be an activist from 2 years old, which is in a couple of days. So, he, everything is for them,\u201d Eugenie said about her son August in a 2023 interview at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.<\/p>\n
